In 2000, Valgard Allsherjargoði welcomed Gárman Hláford Cyning and other Théodsmen of the Wínland Ríce to the 20th Althing, which was held in Utah. The next year, in 2001, Valgard and Gárman met again at the Ásatrú Alliance’s East Coast Thing, which was held in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey. As hap would have it, it was at that gathering that Þórbeorht (now Hláford Cyning) first met both Gárman and Valgard. Though our dealings with Valgard were not many, he was always held in high regard by Théodsmen. Much will he be missed by Heathen men throughout Middangeard.
The Wínland Ríce 
Sad news indeed for us still here in Midgard! Valgard now has joined all good warriors in Valhalla! I treasure my memories of him, in particular, meeting, talking and sharing during that very brief visit in NJ. Wassail Valgard!

Valgard was a hero of the folk. His loss to the asatru community cannot be overstated as I was lucky enough to be part of his circle for the last 10 or 15 years. His positive influence on me and so many others will be a heartfelt loss on behalf of those who loved him I would like to thank All of you Theodsman for your kind words Wassail, Torna Braggison
